My worse Christmas present could have been my best had I not cheated!

We lived in the country...on a farm. When I was 9, I snooped and found a new pair of skates....which I wanted badly.

Every Saturday we went into town to do the shopping. I couldn't wait for Saturday and I announced I was staying home. In those days....it was safe to stay home alone!

Mama was surprised and asked if I was sick.....NOPE....just couldn't wait until the car was out of sight and into the closet I went.....out came the skates.....and up and down the sidewalk a gazillion times!

Wow.....these skates are awesome!!!! It started to rain but didn't bother me....up and down I went. Decided it was time to put them up ......mama would be coming home soon!

Christmas morning......I opened the skates...and WOW......THEY WERE RUSTED!!!! Of course....my parents knew exactly what happened! Being in the days of discipline. I never got new ones... and I never ever snooped again.
